NEW CD RELEASES INSTORE WEEK COMMENCING 2/4/12
ORBITAL – WONKY – 1st new album in 8 years …. The dancelords are back to reclaim their place in the arenas! Melodic, shimmering electro on tracks like STRINGY ACID and STRAIGHT SUN - already sounds a classic!
KILLING JOKE – MMX11 – wow a tour and a new album …. Wonders will never cease! 10 new tracks, all produced by Youth …. Menace and bass anyone?
DR JOHN – LOCKED DOWN – the legendary Dr John here collaborates with Dan Auerbach of BLACK KEYS to add an even more contemporary blues sound to the Beefheartish voice.
GRAHAM COXON – A & E CD, CD/DVD, vinyl – much punkier and lo-fi than SPINNING TOP- more of the sound of LOVE TRAVELS AT ILLEGAL SPEEDS. Again, Coxon plays all instruments.
SEAN PAUL – TOMAHAWK TECHNIQUE – includes collaborations with Alexis Jordan, Kelly Rowland and DJ Ammo and features the hit song got 2 luv u.
AMADOU AND MARIAM – FOLILA- Curious mix this one from the darlings of West African blues with guitar help from the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s Nick Zinner and vocal contributions from Jake Shears, Dougou Badia, Tunde Adebimpe and Kyp Malone to name a few!
ALL THE YOUNG – WELCOME HOME – fantastic indie guitar pop from the Dooley Bros …. Sharp suits and rather reminiscent of the Twang
ROXETTE – TRAVELLING- hard to believe it’s the 9th album from the biggest Swedish pop phenomenon since Abba
LAURA MARLING – A CREATURE I DON’T KNOW – limited edition double cd includes bonus disc of Marling live at York Minster
ESPERANZA SPALDING – RADIO MUSIC SOCIETY- new album from Grammy winning bassist and vocalist. Maybe not for jazz purists but still a very contemporary and at times amelodic jazz exploration.
